General Area Description
Little Mimosa Home stands at Samarias Street that from 1917 for many years was known as Katsambas Street. Today’s area still keeps this unofficial name.
The home itself is situated on the top of stairs leading to the church of Saint Panteleimon – patron of soldiers, a healer or “a lion in everything” derived from his first name Pantoleon.
Above the hill, you will enter one of the most eclectic and charming neighborhoods of Chania town. This is where Chalepa district has its borders with neoclassical buildings that between 19th and 20th century served as Embassies for many European countries.
If you decide to walk straight from Little Mimosa and cross the small bridge, you will be entering the streets hiding behind one of the biggest Chania squares. Little Mimosa is an only 10-minute walk from Dikastiria Square (officially named Eleftherias Square) with City Courthouse, many shops that local people like to visit and a few popular coffee bars serving best town sweets and urban food.
Chania Airport access & Parking
As in most Cretan traditional and historical areas, the infrastructure of building complexes was not planned for today’s traffic. You will park along the streets right above or below the house. There are no town fees for that parking.
To reach Little Mimosa from Chania airport, there is no simpler road than that. With a car you just drive straight ahead till you turn into Katsambas area (left turn while going down the Akrotiriou Street).
There is also a local bus stop at Katsambas square if you plan using Chania transportation.
Beach and Seaside
You will love this experience of a short walk to enjoy Chania seaside of Kum Kapi or Chalepa districts.
An only 20-minute walk away from Little Mimosa, there is a famous cosy cove of Chalepa called “Kouloura”. This natural pool of crystal waters touching sleepy neighbourhood of picturesque Tabakaria coast will become your favorite Chania holiday spot.
May you feel less adventurous then diving from “Koloura” rocks, right at the corner a sandy beach of Kum Kapi is waiting for you. Beach is mostly used by local people and only a few tourists who rent occasionally nearby apartments.
